Corey Simpson- Wildlife Educator/Pet Store Staff
Hi I'm Corey
Around the Zoo you'll usually here my name in conjunction with Corn snakes. I LOVE Corn snakes and probably have the largest collection of them of any of the staff at the zoo. I am involved with a lot of the more interesting breeding aspects of corn snakes, BUT my real passion is for short tailed pythons.
Growing up I spent a lot of time outdoors, my father, being an avid birder, exposed us to the wonders of nature at an early age. I remember him catching Garter snakes when I was younger. I never really thought of reptiles as pets until high school when a friend brought her pet snake to class. Before I knew it, I was caught up in the fascination of snakes.
I was introduced to Little Ray by a manager at a previous job; she knew Little Ray and knew of my passion for snakes. I remember clearly leaving the zoo after my very first visit with a corn snake and the knowledge I would be going back! After I ended up spending most of my weeks there chatting and getting in the way, I was eventually offered a position and the rest is history. I have been at the zoo since 2006 and have no plans on leaving. I love the thrill of working at the zoo. Every day is a new adventure; you never know what or who is waiting to surprise you. One of the greatest experiences in life is seeing children fascinated and in awe of what is around them. And no one can beat the fun of looking after and interacting with amazing animals everyday!
At the zoo you'll usually find me bagging crickets in the pet store! I love learning and teaching about the care of these amazing animals. Whether its something I learned from taking care of my own personal animals, the zoos, or something others where able to share with me; I do my best to provide knowledge about the proper care for the animals.
I want to make sure you have the best tools to look after your reptile family for their entire life.
So whether your interested in your own pet reptile or just looking at ours, stop by the pet store to say Hi!!!
