John McCormack

I’m John, one of the new faces on the “Little Rays Reptile Zoo team”. After being a volunteer for over 2 years, I recently gained employment in the zoo’s pet store. Working with animals is something I have always wanted to do. It is so much fun caring for a room full of baby reptiles! Although being new to the zoo itself, I have been a reptile fanatic all of my life. Over the last 30 years or so, I have cared for and studied reptiles of all types. I have a background in Biology, mainly genetics, and I am currently working on my C.A.Z.A (Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums) certification. The most fulfilling part of my job is playing “matchmaker” for our customers. Finding a suitable companion reptile for a family is a win/win situation for both the new owner and the animal. I am always happy to see a reptile leave our store knowing it will be properly cared for and have a great life. So, if you’re looking for a companion animal, stop on by the zoo. I, or any other staff member, will gladly help you find the pet that is right for you.
