I have been keeping reptiles as pets since I was six years old. I purchased my first pet snake (a garter snake named “Snakey”)from a girl in my grade 1 class for twenty five cents. I grew up in the country and spent every spring, summer and fall at the family cottage. Much to my amazement and delight, wildlife was everywhere. Frogs, snakes, amphibians and turtles were all around me. I quickly found a passion for these “slimy” little guys. I also noticed that most people were afraid of snakes, and so I joyfully carried around Snakey in my pocket to scare people every chance I could! I have no doubt that some people I scared with Snakey ended up with a snake phobia! These days people are harder to scare, and almost no one is “ afraid” of snakes. So these days, rather then trying to scare people with snakes, I do my best to educate people about animals and the environment. I have a ten year old son named Timothy (pictured here) who shares my passion and fascination with these amazing creatures and he does his best to teach any one who will listen everything he knows about reptiles and amphibians. My wife, Shannon loves animals as well, but she could live with out the snakes
