My name is Mikayla Peasey, I am very new to the little ray’s reptile zoo’s staff. I recently, just this past summer, moved from Cold Lake, Alberta. When we arrived in Ottawa, I landed this fabulous job very quickly. My summer was full of travelling around Quebec and Ontario, learning about the animals and working with kids. I quickly began learning about alot of different animals and began learning how to teach people about them. At the zoo I speak English and French so I work alot of our birthday parties, show’s for the public (hands on and feeding shows) and on occasion will go on trips outside the city to do different presentations. My favourite thing about working at the zoo is how it evolves kids. I love working with kids. They are so smart, and they love coming to learn from us at Little Ray’s. Working with kids as a youth advocate is a career that I’m hoping to pursue as I get older. The animals that I work with are so unique. That and the kids make this job so amazing to come to.
